Students in high poverty districts receive 5.7% more money per student than those in low poverty districts, but it is just not enough! (Barnard). According to Arkansas Department of Education Data 2023-2024 Poverty Index, 80% of Arkansas school districts, including charter and virtual schools and academies, have 50% or more students receiving free or reduced lunch. If the state has surplus funds and projects to continue to have surplus funds, that money needs to go to schools. The amount of per pupil funds given to impoverished students needs to increase!
